WORDS OF WELCOME
- NORWATI MD YUSOF
- WELCOME ALL! This weblog opens opportunities for you and me to meet on a platform as netizens. I'm a lecturer by profession, my patience include translation and language issues. That's the academia-side of me; for leisure, I love sports (was once an athlete but now confine myself to weekly routine of swimming). Also pulsing in me is music - ballad, pops, slow rocks and classics. I love movies- of actions, crime scene investigations and of course, romance too...! Join me if you have patience in my likings..welcome again.

Mid-Year 2011
It's now June and already the middle of 2011. Was I expecting much this year? I did, but to this extent I'm content with what has come by. Last year's hectic schedule especially the Brunei and Macau trips make the first half 2011 a more lucid period. But a visit to a remote area in Sarawak this week-end will definitely lead me to write quite differently - will try to write from there. The district of Daro in Sibu is divided into two. My visit will be to the island area, the Bruit Island. Hope to provide pictures from there.Mean while, here are some of my latest pictures - although I have not updated the blog, I wasn't as dormant...

It's new year again. Although I didn't mean to stay up to welcome 2011, the new year appearer as I heard the cheers of countdown on the television; and right now it has been here for about an hour or so. So I'll just let it come, stay and leave accordingly. May it bring succeess and healthier life.

Another chapter 1st August 2010
Beginning 1st August 2010, for three semesters, I shall be travelling another road in life. It could turn out to be a lonely one but what option do we all have when sometimes life demands to be so. I pray to god, let it be a lonely but successful journey. God bless.

When one gets lonely...
Here's a poem that appeared in a magazine that I read when I was still a school girl:
THE RESIDUE
The years behind and the days a head
The unknown road that you must tread
The unmapped path and the thorny track
It's almost enough to break your back.
To think of how you're going to bear
That heavy load with none to share
Just how far you'll have to go
You cannot tell you do not know.
Just keep a brave heart and greet each day
Believing yo're on the way
To something better something great
Something that will compensate.
You often find when all is told
That what you missed is not pure gold
For the real comes with the residue
Of what life holds in store for you.
THE RESIDUE
The years behind and the days a head
The unknown road that you must tread
The unmapped path and the thorny track
It's almost enough to break your back.
To think of how you're going to bear

Of what life holds in store for you.

2010 is here, and already half way through.
Hello again. 2010 has been here (it's been A WHILE since I last wrote ) but I never made it to welcome the 'new year' at its beginning in my blog. When I saw on Academia that I've been searched severally since early July, I realized that today people get connected, formally or otherwise. Academia, Facebook and blogs become their platform. And, thus I should ardently write, at least to keep it up in my blog.
It's the new semester again at The National University of Malaysia (plus 'The' now as its brand name)as it starts the new semester for the new 2010-2011 session.
Early this morning, very early in this region indeed, 2010 FIFA World Cup final took place. I made sure I didn't miss it, and yes I saw the moment that decided the trophy belongs to Spain this time. Most impressive was not what I watched live from the soccer stadium, but some terms discussed by Malaysian commentators before the game was shown live. 'The Football Community' who must understand that footbal has a culture that need not strive on technology to decide on matters. Football means all involved and to be respected, the referees to decide on the spur of the moment if a goal is a goal or not. Computer chip in the ball to determine a goal? Not likely for an ordinary football match in a small village somewhere on the word map. It's more than just scoring the goals. But, of course, FIFA World cup Championship is of its on recognition.
Will I write more after this? May be, maybe not, perhaps not as often as expected.
After all who cares? Well, those who follow. Thanks, if YOU do!

The New Semester 2010
It's a new semester, new year 2010 and first month of the year. These four weeks seem to fly in a giffy. Many things happened and some dear ones passed away even some prominent public figures. A colleague lost her dear father, after another lost her dear husband last December.
I'm trying to cope with work, hoping to achieve more thanhat I could before but plenty more things come by to steer away from what I now think I really want. And that would be...? I'll decide if I'll write and tell.
Oh, amidst the busy life (who doesn't claim this these days?...), we had our work retreat last weekend and it was fun and tookus all at the School off the hook for a while. The planahead was alright but the casual performace on Saturday night was fantastic! My group had a medley of songs of Malay, Korean, French , Arabic, Thai, Spanish as well as English. I hope to upload the pics and video soon.

End of Semester 1 2009/2010
It's already end of Semester 1 2009/2010 at the University Kebangsaan Malaysia / the National University of Malaysia. Students are in the middle of their examination weeks and soon it will be semester break? A break? Doesn't look like there'll be one for the academic staff as usual. But to mark end of the semester, our International students held farewell gatherings and here are some of the pics taken at a few of those that I was invited to.

I'm back :) !
Hi again. I have misplaced myself for quite a while. To those who follow thia blog, please accept my apology for not updating the bolg. But I'm back. The coming postings will include the many things that I wanted to share with you but then I had to give priority to other things including researches (officials and nons!). Peter Reynolds, watch this! I'm back and till the end of the year, as a Chritsmas gift, this blog need not necessarily be student-oriented but no harm done if my international students join in, unconditionally. To myself, Happy Blogging again

Bloggers' blogs
Excited, I got my students to participate in my blog today. Some looked surprised, but obviously it turned out that I was the one who was also surprised to find that many of them own their own blogspots. What a cyberworld! Happy blogging all!
p/s Rozmel, enjoy every bit of your blogging session!

My Condolences
My condolences to my head of Unit of Foreign Languages and Translation, Assoc Prof Dr Siti Hamin Stapa for the loss of her dearest beloved husband Wan Ramli bin Wan Mohd Zin who passed away on the 23rd of May 2009. May he rest in peace in the care of Allah.
I thought I did what I had to do...
To start my own weblog? I heard of it, I saw some of them but I never thought of having one. So at the PTK course on 23rd May 2009 marked the very first milestone of my own weblog- when it was made compulsory. That was what I thought at first, for the sake of submitting, but then no one mentioned about getting addicted to it. After Saturday the 23rd of May, I put a side PTK, got busy with other 'priortised' matters, until yesterday, after a farewell lunch for Dr Musaev Talaibek (our Japanese lecturer moving to another university in Kuala Lumpur) I thought I just gotta upload somewhere the pics taken at San Francisco in Bandar Baru Bangi. Well, very early today I got up, uploaded all the PTK pics and San Fran pics and Sydney-Melbourne pics and I got all geared up to start with my very own NORWATI'S TRANSLATIONBLOG.
The blog ready, the pics uploaded and some text written to start with, I know Dr Noraziah, I won't let you down!
For now, those who asked for pics from me, happy downloading.
